Cargo trafficking — how does the cell deal with freight?

Do you know that there is a mini FedEx company inside your cells that is constantly packaging and shipping out proteins as cargo? This is essential to drive diverse physiological processes from tissue development to immune response. And if any part of the workflow goes wrong and is not mitigated, this can lead to disease development. I will talk about how we use yeast (yes, the one from your kitchen!) and human stem cells to understand how cells pull off their incredible delivery service through secretion and how this can lead us to new therapeutics against diseases like cystic fibrosis.
