Increasing Public Perceptions Towards Autonomous Vehicles Through Interaction and Experience Design
Ben Cham
(PhD student in Computer Science - University of Leicester)
Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) are expected to bring many benefits (e.g., road safety and mobility equity) and whilst there are still technical hurdles to later stages of autonomy, another less prominent yet important factor to AV adoption relates to negative public perceptions with technology acceptance and trust found significant. This talk will present initial findings from an online survey and focus group sessions that explored how, through personalisation of interactions and experiences, acceptance of AVs could be increased for those who are keen for AVs in our future and those who are not.
