He will highlight the power YouTube has in deciding what content we should all be viewing, how factual it is and reflect on how social media shapes our collective knowledge of the climate crisis, and the implications of how it and its solutions are perceived globally.

Divide and Conquer: what happens when politicians lie?
Katie Pruszynski
(PhD student, Politics and International Relations)
Why do Politicians lie, and what happens to democracy when they do? We've become used to thinking that politicians can't be trusted, but has a different type of lie begun to distort our political discourse and even change the shape of democratic society? In this talk, Katie draws on her doctoral research on Trump's "Big Lie" about the 2020 election, including extracts from interviews with US lawmakers, and explores what other lies may have shaped politics here in the UK.
