This talk is for anyone who has ever experienced pain or knows someone who has; thus, this is a talk for everybody! Persistent pain can be extremely challenging to live with but understanding it better can really help. We will challenge myths about pain and talk about how challenging these myths with evidence changes our beautiful neuroplastic minds and can liberate the body.  You will never think about pain the same way again!

When it comes to pain – Everything matters!

Professor Cormac Ryan (Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation, Teesside University)
Through amazing pain stories and mind-boggling illusions Professor Ryan will give you a brief glimpse into the fascinating, though rarely explored, world of Pain Science. He will explain that injury and pain are two separate things, describe how this is biologically possible, and ponder why our biology has evolved this way. - All in 20 minutes? No way. Way!

Understanding is key

Dr Jaj Mankelow (Senior Lecturer in Rehabilitation Science, Teesside University)
Be prepared to get involved as Jaj challenges your existing ideas and thoughts about pain using research, audience participation is a must. She aims to empower, educate, and engage people about the topic of pain, changing what you think, say, and do about it.
